Earthing 101

feet sand beach earthing grounding

Earthing is a practice of balancing your energy by connecting with the frequency of the earth. Earthing provides deep nourishment and centering with measurable physical results.

How does Earthing work?

Earthing allows a transfer of electrons from the ground into the body. Research shows that inflammation is caused by free radicals and that free radicals are neutralized by electrons from any source. Standing barefoot on the earth allows electrons, what gives antioxidants their neutralizing power, to enter the body and energy field.

Here are several scientific research papers on grounding:

Before the industrial revolution, for centuries humans walked barefoot on the earth. Our modern ways of living disconnect us more and more from the earth - wearing shoes, driving cars, and the homes we live in distance us from direct contact with the earth. Our bodies still need and crave this direct connection for restoration and balance. With a few mindful techniques you can enjoy the benefits of Earthing to restore harmony in your body and energetic field.

All it takes it setting aside some time to stand or walk around barefoot in an area of nature. Allow the earth’s energy to bring harmony to your system and ground your vibration, leaving you restored and clear minded. Earthing is a simple technique. Find an area in which you can safely connect with the earth and then kick off your shoes! Feel the ground beneath you, observing the sensation of your bare feet on the Earth. Feel the texture of the earth as you wiggle your toes in the soil, sand, or grass. Notice the temperature of the earth and even her density as you allow yourself to be supported by Mother Nature.

Earthing Meditation

Close your eyes to bring even more focus to the sensations at your feet. Clear your mind and begin to focus on your breath as you continue to stand with your bare feet on the earth. Ground. Allow your breath to help anchor and steady your mind. Say to yourself “I am inhaling” as you inhale and “I am exhaling” as you exhale. Be present. Feel the energy of the earth drawing up through your feet on each inhale. Then feel your connection with the ground strengthening on each exhale.Keeping your eyes closed, begin to add some movement to your body. Slowly shift your weight to your right foot as you inhale. Then shift your weight to your left foot for the exhale. Continue playing with your weight for about ten breaths, then stand still with both feet firmly on the ground. Open your eyes, while maintaining your awareness of your feet and the ground beneath you.

Give gratitude to the Earth for supporting you as she has done so for your entire life. Also, thank yourself for taking this time to connect with nature. You can practice this earthing meditation at any time. Return to it anytime you feel drained, anxious, or disconnected from your intuition or true beauty. This practice and Mother Earth are always available to support you on your journey.Renew your body, heart, mind, and spirit with earth's energy as it circulates through your being and brings your entire system into balance.

Next week I'll discuss ways to practice Earthing while indoors and enjoying the comfort of your daily beauty ritual.Sending you love and gratitude for the light your soul reflects through the many facets of your beauty.

With joy,
Marissa
